Plus: the different types of hits
Welcome everyone!
We have been informed that David Dobrik is actually an avid roundnet player, and that it is very common to see celebrities play. From this day forward it is our ultimate goal to host a celebrity tournament (and disguise Marino in there to take their money).
In today’s issue:
💶 2024 ETS season has begun
👋 Hit Types
👊 Quick Hits
Shall we begin?
💥 Boom Boom Pow
Today we’re going over types of hits, because apparently hitting it the same direction, with the same power, with the same hand every time is considered “amateur.” Whatever, Josh.
Before we get into it, shoutout to our guy Scott Beeks. Get the man to 1,000 subs on YouTube if you haven’t subscribed already. This is a continuation of our Principles of Hitting segment, so read that first if you haven’t already.
The beauty of roundnet stems from the 360 degrees nature of the sport. It’s a pain to defend, but presents opportunities aplenty for high level hitters. Each hit direction depends on where your hips are facing.
The directional hits are:
Push Shot: when you hit straight away from your body.
Open: when you hit to the right or left of where your hips are facing.
Pull/Wrap: when you hit the ball back behind where your hips are set up.
Then you add in power. Boom, drop or flick. A boom is a harder hit, a drop is a lighter one, and the flick is hitting it with an inverted hand (hitting it left with your left hand).
Now these types of hits can be:
Drop, boom or flick push
Drop, boom or flick open (right or left)
Drop, boom, or flick pull/wrap
See more how to hit those shots in our previous blog.
The wait is over my friends—the 2024 roundnet season is officially underway.
The European Tour Series got started this past weekend in the beautiful city of Barcelona. EURA and Roundnet Barcelona put on a great weekend in the rain filled with competitive play.
Both the men’s and women’s Championship matches went the distance. VIBIN’ won in the 3rd set by a score of 21-19 after a back-and-forth opening two sets. Meanwhile on the Women’s side, Kunzelmann and Inès of Nova came back after losing the first set to tiramisu to take home the title in Barcelona.
Laura also took down Mixed (all she does is win), but were still waiting for her debut with Siemer.
And of course, the tournament concluded with an elite party that was “not recommended for the weak.”
Great times on and off the field. Nothing better.
But that’s enough from me—it’s the time for the good stuff…
